Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we the family of Donald James Mooney announce his passing on Wednesday, August 21,2024 at the Placentia Health Centre. Donnie will be fondly remembered & missed by his brothers; Alfred (Allie) & Pat (Jeanette). His nieces & nephews; Valerie (Calvin), Kim, Clarissa & Greg (Caitlin). Great nieces & nephews; Gabrielle, Hannah, Sophie, Gavin & Jace. He is pre-deceased by his parents Elizabeth & Alfred Mooney, and we know they were anxiously awaiting his arrival at the gates of Gods heavenly home. Donnie worked for many years in Labrador & throughout Western Canada & retired from CP Rail after 25 years there. He lived a simple, carefree life in Branch, cutting his grass, keeping his property tidy & vigilantly attending Church. Donnie found his greatest peace in his faith & prayers. Donnie loved to have his family around and had great pride in us all. He had a large circle of friends who he cherished dearly. We would like to Thank all those who visited him, prepared meals and prayed for him. We are truly grateful for your kindness & support. We extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Placentia Health Centre & The Cancer Clinic, Dr. Jones, Dr. Tracey Roche & Public Health Nurse Vivian Careen. A special Thank You to Priscilla Corcoran Mooney for her regular Sunday visits brining him communion & Father Leo for his prayers with him at the hospital in his last days. Your compassion and care will never be forgotten. Resting at Holy Rosary Church, Branch on Saturday & Sunday, August 24-25th. Mass & Christian burial will take place Monday August 26th at 11AM, Holy Rosary Church, Branch led by Father Leo English. In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
