Obituary of John Joseph Power

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing on January 14, 2016, of John Joseph Power, in his 86th year. Born in Harbour Main, John spent the last 34 years of his life in Placentia with his wife, Mary (née Kelly), who predeceased him in 1998. He is also predeceased by sisters, Kathleen Ryan (Gabe) of St. Joseph's; Mary Deschampes (Lucien) of Valleyfield, Que.; Marguerite Kenny (Bill) Avondale; Loretta, Kelligrews; and Marie Petten, Kelligrews. Also by brothers, Gerald (Marguerite), St. John's; James (Marg), St. John's; and Thomas, Avondale. As well as his daughter, Donna, Cornwall, Ont. John will be missed by his children, Brenda, Toronto; and Michael, St. John's; and by his grandchildren, Jeff, Mount Pearl; and Erin, Toronto. He also leaves to mourn sisters, Teresa Morris (Randolph), Mount Pearl; and Dorothy Downey (Mike), Avondale; and brothers, Richard (Agnes), Avondale; and Leo (Martina), Avondale. John also leaves behind a large number of nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the staff of Gateway Senior's Residence, Dunville, Placentia. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses at Placentia Health Centre who were so kind and caring and for helping us over the past few days. Visitation on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9; Sunday from 11:00 - 2:00 with Funeral Service to take place at Coombs Funeral home on Sunday January 17, 2016 at 2, all at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia.
