It is with deepest sympathy that I extend my sincere condolences to "Mrs. Doody's" family. Around this time 22 years ago I walked into her kindergarten classroom at Holy Rosary School. She was such a wonderful teacher. Then as we moved on to Grade 1 so did she! There were about 30 students who had the privilege of her teachings for two years in a row and I bet most would say she was one of the best teachers they had growing up. She always had a smile. She was a beautiful person. And as most of her students we moved out of the area but I was lucky to have kept in touch. We would always bump into each other here and there and she was sure to stop for a quick chat. You could count on her to be 'dressed to the nines' and looking her best at all times. So having shared that I would again like to send my deepest, deepest sympathy. She will not soon be forgotten.

Dear Mr. Doody and Family, I am very saddened by the loss of Mrs. Doody. Since the day I first entered Holy Rosary school in Freshwater, I remember her smile, her kindness and gentle ways. In a time dominated by the strictness of the Presentation Sisters and most other teachers who followed their ways, Mrs. Doody stood apart, always glowing in her own special way. She was someone you could approach without fear of consequences. Of course, the next best memory is of Mr. and Mrs. Doody holding hands to and from the car at lunch hour; an inspiration I'll never forget. She was truly loved by us, her students. May God hold your hands through this sad time.

Mr. Doody and family So very sad to hear of Mrs. Doody's sudden passing. I was fortunate to have a chat with her at my dad's funeral in May and I remember saying to my brothers and sisters that Mrs. Doody looked the same to me as she did years ago when a crowd of us teenagers would descend upon her house after a long cold day of skating on the pond. We were always made to feel so welcome. May the wonderful memories that you hold in your hearts sustain you through this difficult time. Doreen (Mandville ) Davis

To the Doody Family: We were very sorry to hear of your great loss. Mrs. Doody was a beautiful person. She was a kind and gentle woman whose smile " SAID IT ALL". She always took the time to say hello and ask how things were going. She loved children and our granddaughter Kelsey loved sitting behind Mr. & Mrs. Doody in Church. Mrs. Doody would give Kelesy a hug and have a little chat with her. Mrs. Doody and I became e-mail buddies over the past year. I looked forward to her little notes and jokes. Our Church and community has lost a woman of great Faith and kindness. She is happy now to be with John , Jonathan and her Family. Mr. Doody, you were blessed to have Mrs. Doody for 59 years and Tom, John, & Jerry were blessed to have her as their Mother. I have fond memories of stopping by your home for hot chocolate and warming up from skating on the Lilly Pond. A bunch of kids full of snow all in the kitchen talking and laughing. Mrs. Doody would have Tom & John walk to Dunville with us to make sure we arrived home safely. May she walk with the Angels and see the Face of God. God Bless you all.

Mr.Doody,Tom,Linda,Jerry,Lucy,Marie,Grandchildren,The MacDonald & Doody extended families --I am so sorry to learn of Sadie's sudden passing.I can only imagine the grief & sorrow you are experiencing.Sadie was always loving, gentle, pleasant, understanding, compassionate, generous with all with whom she crossed paths. She loved you deeply Les(which was easy to see)& I know it seems so unfair for her to be swept away so unexpectably.Knowing Sadie, she would say "It's God's Will" Tom,Linda,Jerry,Lucy, Marie & grandchildren ,her face shone as she spoke so fondly of all of you.She lived her life bringing a smile to so many of us,too. She brightened our days with her many gestures of making life as easy as she could with her contagious smile, kind & encouraging words and those so very special e-mails.She instinctively knew just what to say.I'm sure Our Lord's first words to her were "Welcome,my good and faithful servant." I celebrated the Tv Vision Mass today for her with Fr. Coutts', Sadie's favourite celebrant at that Service. --We all have another Angel up Above to look after us. I am unable to be with you today for Sadie's Mass & the trip to her final resting place.Spiritually I will be walking with you today --with special prayers to help you through your journey. I shall be thinking & praying for you daily. God Bless & Guide you all. - Love,Pat -- (I sent an e-mail to Sadie's internet address yesterday.I hope it helped a little.)--

I was deeply saddened to learn of Mrs. Doody’s passing. She was a kind and caring woman who influenced many people during and after her teaching career. I will miss her smile and chatting with her whenever we met. Many years after being one of her grade one students she continued to care for my progress in academics and life. I was very happy and thankful to receive a card from her and Mr. Doody following my recent university convocation; I will cherish it and the inspirational words written inside for years to come. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to Mr. Doody and family and hope that you will cherish the memories made during her life on earth and take comfort in knowing that she will be rewarded following a life well lived. Peace and prayers, Wayne Power Jr. "I am going to a city, Where the streets with gold are laid; Where the tree of life is blooming And the roses never fade. To Mr. Doody and family, We were so very saddened when we learned of Mrs. Doody's passing. She was such a wonderful and kind person. When she asked how you were or inquired about a family member, it wasn't just for something to say...she sincerely wanted to know and she cared so much about others. She and Mr. Doody were so good to our family during dad's illness and passing in April - they joined us up at the house for mass and kept in touch during those difficult months. On the day dad was buried, Mrs. Doody didn't come to the reception afterwards because she had heard us say that we were getting low on mom's homemade bread so off she went straight home and baked a batch for us. She will be truly missed. Please know the thoughts and prayers of all the Pomroy family are with you all during this difficult time.

Dear Les & Family, I was so saddened to hear of Sadie's passing, but comforted to know that she spent her last evening doing what she loved so much - dancing and enjoying the company of Les and her family and friends. Sadie was an inspiration - kind, vibrant, and beautiful inside and out. I was always touched by the love that Sadie and Les had, they just adored one another. Les, if I don't get to see you at the wake, I send a warm hug to you. She was a very special lady and I know you will miss her dearly. You and Sadie were the finest "strangers" I ever knew :) Cathy

It was only the other day that I was reminiscing my school years at Holy Rosary. The first thing I spoke of was Mr. Mugs, the big stuffed dog that was in Mrs. Doody's classroom. Anyone who had Mrs. Doody as a teacher can associate the two together. Mrs. Doody was an exceptional Lady. Her love for her husband alone, could never be measured. It was truly a one of a kind. The way she spoke of her boys, when she would tell us stories of her family vacations, came forth with such love and devotion. Mrs. Doody was a remarkable women and will always be remembered as a great role model, and a beautiful person inside and out. She will be truly missed but her memories will live in the hearts of every child she taught.

I was very saddened today to learn about the passing of Mrs. Doody. She was my Grade 1 teacher at Holy Rosary in 1984-85. She was one of my favourite teachers - She was sweet, kind & caring. I never forgot her as I moved on through the years. My favourite memory of Mrs. Doody was when her & her husband brought us all over to the Happy Tree around Christmas, at the mall in Placentia in the truck & we sang songs all the way over.. For some reason that memory stuck with me for 24 years.. Even when I happened to meet Mrs. Doody in the area over the years she never forgotten my name. She was a wonderful lady. My thoughts & prayers are with the family. Rest in peace Mrs. Doody. Vanessa McCarthy

Mr. Doody & Family. Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your dear loved one. Mrs. Doody was a kind and loving person to all those she met throughout her life. Mrs. Doody was a great teacher and all her students admired her as a professional and their friend. I will always be thankful to her for treating my sister Nellie as one of her own family members. My sister spent several years in the company of your loving family and she has fond memories of those days. Mr. Doody,Tom and Gerry, experiencing the death of a wife and mother is so personal that very few of us can understand the grief involved. Perhaps it will help to ease your sadness if you know that Mrs. Doody will be greatly missed by all and that we share in your sadness. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time.

It's with surprise and deep sadness to hear of Sadie's sudden passing. It's very difficult losing a loved one, especially one as precious as she was. She's been very helpful and consoling to us over the past three years with her since of caring and prayers for our son since he became ill. Only we know how helpful her concern has been for our getting through such a difficult time. Whenever and wherever we met Sadie and Les they always asked how he was doing and we knew by their expression how sincere their asking was. Her compassion and friendship will be forever remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish and strength in companionship of those who share your loss. God Bless.

Mr. Doody & Family, It is with great sadness that we pass along our condolences on the passing of Mrs. Doody. A loving mother, proud grandmother and not to mention beloved wife. We had the pleasure of visiting Mr. & Mrs. Doody just a few short weeks ago, at their home, when we were home on vacation. Sadie played the piano for us and shared their wedding photos as if it were yesterday. You were both so excited about your upcoming wedding anniversary party. Our children had such respect and admiration for both of you knowing what wonderful friends you were to Nanny Hickey. Josephine adored Sadie, they had a wonderful friendship going back so many years. Paul remembers going to Mrs. Doody's while Josephine and Sadie studied and worked on projects for university. Josephine loved to hear Sadie's jokes as well as share many a joke with Sadie, they shared so many laughs together. Mr. Doody, you had 59 wonderful years together, cherish your memories, celebrate the life you had together, as she would want you to. Heaven is blessed with another beautiful soul !
