Bernard, David, JJ and Tammy, my sincere condolences to each of you. I am saddened at Madeline's sudden passing and as I look at her picture here, it doesn't even seem real that we will never see her anymore. She was so many things to so many people and she left a legacy of kindness and generosity that will never be matched. She was also many things to me- my first teacher, my godmother and one of my mother's best friends. There's hardly a story of my parents in their early days together that does not include Madeline and Bernard and the great times they shared together. No matter where, when or under what circumstance you met her, she always had something to share about her family and no one could ever doubt her love for you all. Take care and cherish your memories.

She always took the time to have a chat whenever we met. I have very fond memories growing up in Jerseyside with Madeline as our next door neighbor. She was always so good to my twin sister & I. Bernard, David, JJ and Tammy, Madeline was good to all of us as kids letting us hang around the house, I guess we blended in with the many animals that were around. Condolences to you guys take care, like previously said Madeline was a daily chicken wing cooker before anyone else bothered to even eat them. The wings and the C-Plus orange are two of the things that always reminded me of Bernard and Madeline. RIP Madeline.

Bernard, Tammy, JJ and David, My sincere condolences on the loss of Madeline, who was truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I’ve read through the tributes and can say that as one of the kids that spent countless hours at your home in Jerseyside throughout my high school years, I remember the chicken wings and C plus, the Jiggs dinner where there was always room for one more at the table, and my favourite- the grilled cheese and Pepsi we used to eat for school lunches. Madeline never seemed to mind us kids around her house and sometimes I feel like I spent as much time there as at my own house. All of our visits back to NL included a stop in at Madeline and Bernard’s where we were welcomed with open arms and a meal. May her strength be with you now at this difficult time. I have many fond memories of time spent in the Penny household when we were kids and the patience and kindness Madeline showed us is hard to put into words. Rest assured, as I look back on those times, that I greatly appreciated everything she did for us without complaint. My deepest condolences to all of you on the sudden passing of Madeline. She was a dear friend to me for many years, beginning
when we were teaching at St. Joseph's School in South East. She was very dedicated to her family and every conversation that we had,included them. She always kept me updated about her grandchildren and great grand child as well. I was always amazed at how much she cared ,not only for her own family ,but everyone else who had the pleasure of walking through her door. She was a great cook and you were sure to get a taste of her treats whenever you visited. I will miss our long telephone conversations and even if they were months apart,it was as if we had talked every day. I am so glad that we had kept in touch, even right up to Christmas Day. To all of her family, I know you have many wonderful memories of her and these will help you get through the difficult days ahead. RIP Madeline my friend, you will be missed.
