To the Meade family. I was so shocked and saddened by this news. John was certainly a pleasure to see at the gas bar when I worked there 10 years ago, and as Gladys said earlier, he sure did like his ice cream with the double scoop. I never seen him in a foul or bitter mood, and people like John are the ones that make you smile when your day isn't going very well. Please accept my most sincere condolences during this time. May he rest in peace.

To all my Family back home, especially Doris, Anna, Kelly, Melissa and John Jason. I am so saddened to hear the news and please know that I am very sorry for not being there. I know words of mine can't comfort you all in this trying time so I borrowed some from someone else. If tears could build a stairway And memories were a lane We would walk right up to Heaven And bring you back again No farewell words were spoken No time to say goodbye You were gone before we knew it And only God knows why Our hearts still ache in sadness And many tears still flow What it meant to lose you No on will ever know But know we know you want us To mourn for you no more To remember all the happy times Life still has much in store Since you’ll never be forgotten We pledge to you today A hallowed place within our hearts Is where you’ll always stay All my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I was so shocked and sad to hear about the sudden passing of John. I can only imagine the great memories he has left his family as I have so many fond memories of our encounters. He always had a smile on his face which only brighten when he spoke of his family. I remember when I worked at the gas bar John would come in faithfully for his double scoop of icecream and his tickets. I of course had to make it the biggest one I would tell him that should get ya to Ship Harbour...I pray that you find comfort in the lasting memories he has left behind and I am sure he will help you find strength to get through this difficult time..You will be missed my friend...

Doris, Kelly, John Jason, Melissa, Anna and all my aunts and uncles of the Meade family: Words cannot express fully the sorrow I feel upon the passing of my Uncle John.It still seems so surreal. I learned a great lesson from John. I would be brooding about my own health, and then I would talk to John and he'd be telling me about all the hard work he was after doing while in pain with his back. It put me to shame and made me realize that no matter what I was going through, I should be thankful because there was always someone going through much worse. In other words, the cross I was bearing was not as heavy as some have to carry. There will always be a special place in my heart for him.Everything he did was for his family. He loved you all dearly. Stay strong for each other. May God's grace and mercy descend upon you all.

Uncle John was a man who always had a smile on his face, and it still hasn't hit me yet that he is no longer with us. He was such a loving and caring man. No matter what he was a man that you could depend on for anything. He loved his family with his all his heart. So many times, when i would visit with Mim(grandmother) on Sunday's he would be there, and he would always joke and carry on with me. He would always say to me " Smitty you still working, what are you going to do with all your money". And i would always tell him "I'm savin' up". I'm truly going to miss that. I will never forget you Uncle John. I love and missu you very much. Kayla "Smitty"

Doris & Family and all other members of the Meade family. So sorry & was deeply saddened to hear of John passing away. Today as you lay him to rest may you have the strength to carry on without him. John was a kind and caring man. He was a good buddy of my brothers Con and Ralph, and was always there to lend a hand for my Mom,and for that we are very greatful. John and I were great buddies growing up and in our late teenage years. I remember when John bought his first truck, he was so very proud and so was I. We drove up and down the harbour until almost all the gas was gone :) I think maybe shortly around that time was when John met the love of his live Doris. Cherish the memories you have of John and his memories will live on in his children and grandchildren. I am sure he is watching over each and every one of you as always.Take Care of each other! Rest in Peace my Friend! Anne & Keith
