Obituary of Catherine Coffey

Coffey, Catherine Mary - July 2, 1936- February 6, 2015 - Catherine passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at the St. John's Long Term Care Home, at the age of 78. Predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gregory ("Bobby") Coffey; parents Edmund and Margaret McGrath, and brothers Martin and Cyril. Catherine leaves to mourn with heartfelt sorrow her cherished children, Margaret (James) Tremblay, Kenny (Rhoda McLean), Beverley (John Paul) Mazzarolo and Keith (Karla Codner); grandchildren Tonya, Isabella, Lucas, Lauren and Marco, as well as extended family and friends, including dear friends Margie Coffey, Peggy McGrath, Monica Manning and June Goodyear. Catherine was born and raised in Patrick's Cove. She went on to teach in Petty Harbour before marrying Gregory and moving to Schefferville and Labrador City where they raised their family. They retired to Kelligrews. Catherine loved her family and was happiest when baking bread for them, putting on the kettle, feeding her blue jays and meeting her friends. Catherine will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to family and friends for their support during this difficult time, and to the wonderful staff at the St. John's Long Term Care Facility who have provided care and compassion during her time there. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Cremation has taken place. Visitation from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2015. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church, Patrick's Cove. Inurnment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Patrick's Cove. As an expression of sympathy, a donation may be made to the St. Patrick's Church fund or to a charity of one's choice.
