SMITH Bridget Aline (Dunphy) (Mrs. Bride) July 31, 1914 - February 3, 2015 Passed peacefully away in her 100th year, on February 3rd 2015, with her family by her side at Lions Manor, Placentia. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, James Smith, and her infant son, Ronnie. Leaving behind with loving memories her 10 children: Thomas (Jane), Alec (Loretta, deceased), Helen (Leo), Leo (Gloria), Mary (Earl), Fred, Ken (Joyce), Geraldine (Noel), Laney, Gerard (Maggie). 27 Grandchildren: Jenny, Katie, Claire and Ben; Dwayne and Jill; Janine, John, Kevin and Kenny; David and Julie; Preston, Heidi, Nancy and Natalie; Michael; Michael (deceased), Laura, Johanna and Maggie; Amelia and Maggie; Zachary; James, Brendan, and Alexander. 27 Great Grandchildren: James and Mary; Isabelle, Bridget and Nicholas; Thomas, Leo, Violet and Patrick; Luke; Gretchen, Callum and Bridget; Jeremiah and Julia; Alex, Jenna and Alyssa; Lucas and Ryder; Joshua; Sarah, Johnathan and Olivia; Zoe and Anna; Kristian., and brother Patrick Dunphy of Freshwater. Born in Argentia in 1914, Bride grew up with her parents, five brothers, and four sisters. She graduated from Grade 10 in Argentia and later moved to St. John's to work. She and Jim were married in Argentia in 1940; they were forced to relocate to Freshwater in 1941, where they started a new life and raised 10 children. Mrs. Bride, ever independent, continued to live in her own home until she was 96. Mrs. Bride led a faith-filled life. She was an active member of the Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the Good Shepherd Prayer Group until her early 90's. She was a compassionate and loving caregiver to many people; her delicious Sunday dinners would be sent far and wide. She championed education, and supported charities too numerous to mention. She was widely known as a strong, kind, gentle, determined, steadfast, loyal and loving woman. She had a special place in her heart for each and every one of her children - an unwavering acceptance, fierce loyalty, and deep love. We will miss you, Mom.
