Whiffen, Maurice - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at the Placentia Health Care Center on Thursday May 29th, 2008, Maurice J. Whiffen of Fox Harbour, age 88 years. Predeceased by daughters Annie Whiffen and Martha Griffiths, parents Maurice & Mary Ellen Whiffen, brother Alphonsus and sisters Irene & Mary. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is wife of 66 years Ellen (Bruce), daughters Betty (Ed) Griffin and Deanie (Mike) Pittman, sons John (Maureen), Joe (Kathleen), Ben (Theresa), Andy (Joan), and Wish (Kathleen), and son in law Jack Griffiths, his cherished grandchildren Ken & Brenda; Barbara, Kathleen, Paul, Claudette, Michael & Melissa & John; Maurice, John, Karl & Bernard; Nathan & Leigha; Colin, Tyler and Brittany; 24 great grandchildren, and a large number of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia on Friday May 30th, 10:00 A.M. - 9:00P.M., Mass of Christian Burial to take place at Sacred Heart Church, Fox Harbour on Saturday May 31st, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fox Harbour. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
