Donnie I thought you would like a copy of what I read at the service tonight. Here goes: I had a phone call about an hour ago from Shelley asking me on behalf of Rita's family if I would say a few words about Rita at tonight's service. My firast response was oh my God I don't know what to say; what do you want me say ? But then, I remembered 2 of Rita's favorite sayings; "What Ever", and "Get Over It," and here I am; just for you Rita! I met Rita a few years ago when I was smaller and much younger; probably 15 or 16 years old. At that time myself and Rita dated for a short while. I remember our 1st date took plce at Bingo at the Legion. When Rita moved into the Lion's Manor she was quick to let everyone know that I was one of her old boyfriends, and that she was the one to dump me. Rita faced many challenges over the past 10-15 years, one of the biggest being diagnosed with MS and then having to leave her home to move into the nursing home, thus being forced to be seperated from her children. For most people this would cuase a person to give up, but not Rita. It made her stronger...it did not get the best of her. She was very stubborn and faced every day head on. She had a powerful sense of humor, a hardy laugh and the most colorful language that you have ever heard. Many times she would laugh so hard that she would lose her breath; this laughter was often at everyone elses expense. Rita made the most of every day. She certainly did and had it her way. She enjoyed many of the simplist things in life, such as her music (Grey Foggy Day),a bag of chips, a bottle of drink or a piece of tail....lobster tale that is. She always looked forward to Jimmy bringing her in a lobster tail. She often made jokes, that she was getting her tail this evening. Now minda ya she'd almost choke laughing so hard while trying to tell ya. Rita had a way of keeping the nursing staff in line, and was good at giving them thier orders. Watch out, if they never got it right; she'd certainly be sure to tell them how @#!@# stupid they were, and again kill her self laughing. She loved her 3 children, Corey, Kayla and Kaitlin to the moon and back; they were her world . She would light up whenver she mentioned thier names and was so happy when she talked to them on the phone or if they were coming to visit. Her kids were her source of strenght and I am sure is what gave her the courage and the strenght to fight as long as she did. Rita loved all her family and spoke often of her brothers and sisters. She had a special bond with her sister, Donnie. Donnie was her rock, on whom she depended and trusted in every day. Donnie you should be very proud for all that you did for Rita. I am sure if she was here she would tell you it herself, off course, in her own way. I know this is a very difficult time for all Rita's family, but try to take comfort in knowing that Rita is free now; free from pain and free from suffering. She is free from the body that trapped her spirit. She is trotting freely about the streets of heaven; trotting like I remember her when we were young and care free. I am sure she is looking down on you all today, and telling you all to "get over it", for she is free and will see ya all later. RIP Rita....love Bill xo

May my thoughts be with all the Mulrooney family during this difficult time. Especially her children whom she talked about often. She always made people laugh. She was very good at that. She had an awesome laugh herself and it often brightened my day at work. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of a lovely lady. Rita, always greeted me very genuinely when I would see her at work with "how's your mom and dad or how's your boys Darlene?" She had a special place in my heart as nurse, other than the fact she too was a Mulrooney, her strength and courage was amazing. It was the small things in life she appreciated and we could all learn a lot from her. Rest peacefully Rita.
