Rose Roche was my Mother's older sister and I did not meet her until 1994 when I brought my Mother, nee, Mary Cleary, home to Nfld for a visit with her family. We live in Texas and my Mother wanted to see her family one more time before she died since she was ill with lung problems. I came to know and love my Aunt Rose and phoned her often and sent greeting cards for special occasions. She always responded with a thank-you letter and a few words of what was happening with her and the family in the Placentia/Freshwater area. After my Mother died in '95 I went back three more times, once by myself and twice with my daughters, Laura and Jennifer. They also began to love their Auntie Rose as they called her and felt like they had known her all their lives. I know she was tired and ready to go, but I will dearly miss hearing her Irish voice on the other end of the line when I phoned her from Texas. I hope that I will have her strength and sense of humor when I am 91 years old and that my family will love me as much as hers loved her. Betty Junemann
