It's upsets me so much that I didn't get to say good-bye to Uncle Jack. It just won't be the same going home for a visit anymore and not seeing him and his lovely smile. I will miss you alot, Uncle Jack! Your niece and Godchild, Catherine

Uncle Jack, Ill miss your smile (even when you didnt have your teeth in :) Ill miss your Sunday supper and the song that went with it. I think it when something like this, "Did-a-la dee da la dee de la", Denise will have to continue that, she knows all the words. I have to say that you were probably the kindest man I have ever known. Always happy and ready to give you a kiss. Ill never forget, the little red station wagon with stinky Lassie in the back, on a rainy day, out in the school yard, loading up as many as you could fit for a ride home at lunch time. You never seemed to get mad at us, even when there was 5 or 6 of us hanging around the house. Or for that matter, the time I caught fire to your kitchen.... Ill miss you & I love you. Peace. Rose

I always pay special attention when I see Iona Island mentioned. My grandmother, Ellen Griffin (later St. George) was born there. Her parents were John and Bridgit Griffin( both of whom emigrated from Ireland with their parents during the potatoe Famine during the 1800's). In July/96, Skipper Ned Murphy, Matt Griffin (deceased), Rose Smith (deceased), Imelda Smith (still living, in Boston), Fr. John McCarthy SJ. and I took a sail out to Iona. What a hard life our ancestors must have had trying to make a very meagre living out there ... and no Tim Horton's. Best wishes to all the family.

We were sad to hear of Uncle Jack's passing but take comfort that he is now an angel in heaven watching over us with Mom and Dad (Rita and Ron). I'm glad that I was able to spend time with Uncle Jack when I was home earlier this year. He didn't say much but then again he never did. You could always count on a big hug and a kiss from Uncle Jack. I'll miss seeing him next time we're home but I will visit him at his final resting place.

My thoughts and prayers and with you and your family at this time. Remembering times shared, all our love. Madonna xoxoxo -----From Cynthia: Gosh, where do I start - you are all my family and I think about you often. I'm so glad I had that little snippit of time to spend with Uncle Jack and you, Aunt Adrienne in Ottawa a year or so ago. I can't say I know what you've all been through but I understand the loss. I miss him too - I was feeling badly when I realized he had passed so quickly - but, then a warm feeling came over me and I started to remember all the funny stuff he did when I was little and how he thought of me like one of his own and I'm happy to keep those memories of my God Father. Uncle Jack was special to me - his wonderful disposition was very different from my own dad's and I appreciated that and was always comforted by it. I remember, when I think of him, his toothless smile and it makes me smile, especially thinking of the time you all persuaded him for the first time to get false teeth after many years of not having any, then to find out they were missing - I used to laugh about it, thinking they were at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and some lobster was wearing his great big grin. I'm not sure he ever gave a clear accounting of what happened! Theresa (Terri) and Denise - my life long friends - I know I have not talked to you or seen you in some time but always know that I think of you as my sisters and I'm sharing in your loss right now! I'm hoping to talk with you at Christmas time from Mom's (the 24th.) as most of our family will be there, except for Paul's crowd. Aunt Adrienne, you did the best you could and you and Jack were, without a double, the most loving couple I have known. You have been blessed to have that kind of love for so long as it generally only comes once in a lifetime. Mary, John, James and Frank - I haven't forgotten you either! I love you all and I'm sure tht your Dad is with the Angels right now looking down on all of you. May Peace, love and joy embrace all of you in this season and may your hearts and minds be filled with the fond memories of times gone by. Love Cynthia and family. XOXOXO

I'm sorry to hear that your dad has passed. I left Freshwater when I was 12 but I remember him well. He always had a smile for me and treated my mom like gold when dad passed. I remember when he showed me the largest lobster I'd ever seen. I remember him teaching mom how to drive that Nissan Stanza standard. I don't know if I'll ever get over the jerky starts and stops. Wish he was around now, I could learn from him too. :) Take care all and best wishes. Keith Hunt

Mrs. Murphy and family - sorry to hear of Mr. Murphy's passing - my thoughts are with you at this time. I had many yarns with Jack over the fence - he was always pleasant and eager to chat. He was especially comical one time when I visited him at the HSC after his accident with the saw. Best wishes for all you guys at this sad time.
