Mary and I had been friends for many years. We worked together on several community projects but the one thing that Mary and I shared most was the love we had for our children.Mary and I were faithful followers of our sons' softball games. My son Doug and Mary's son Russell were good friends and played ball together.Doug was a pitcher and Russell was a catcher for him ,they connected well together. Mary and I were their cheerleaders, always making up the cheers as the game was being played. Our boys would shake their heads and pretend they didn't know us, we wondered why, ha,ha. Many trips to tournaments both locally and away we would go, raise the money to see that the boys got their and had a good time.We always had a good time and we were very proud moms. I will always remember with very fond memories what Mary and I shared together. To Rex and the children, we will always keep Mary's vibrant spirit alive for many years to come. Thinking of you all on this first anniversay. Take comfort in knowing she is your special angel in heaven watching out for her family and extended families.

Rex, Russell,Tracey & Ryan, Denise/Neil, Neil/Kayla, Geraldy, Eddie & families; Mary was never too busy to talk or listen or lend a helping hand. She always found time to share and reach out to others. She truly cared and always found ways to show just how much...she was someone who touched so many lives. She could be lawless at times though...but always in a fun way. Oh, how she made us all laugh and carry on!! I'm smiling now just thinking about it. She was genuine. There was nothing 'put on' about Mary. What you saw was what you got! How refreshing was that! Personally, Mary was a bright ray of sunshine in my life. She was one of very few people who could draw me out of my shell. I was reserved, but that's not a word you would use to describe Mary. I read a quote somewhere that said: "The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had." Mary was that kind of friend to me. Mary was more than my first cousin, she was a loyal, trusted and very close friend. She was my 'other' sister. We loved her and we will never forget her. We are here for all of you, always. Love, Ann Marie & Rick

Rex, Russell, Denise, Neil, and Quilty/Woodman families: I was deeply saddened to hear of Mary's passing last week. I was out of the country until last night, and so I wasn't able to attend the celebration of her beautiful life. One of the things I will remember most about Mary is her smile – that smile could light up a room. I feel very blessed to have been a part of her family. Mary touched so many people in a positive way throughout her lifetime with her warmth and kindness, and I hope that you can take comfort in the many memories she helped to create. Love and heartfelt condolences to all of you, Marilyn

I think I best remember Mary at our high school prom. She was such a great woman, so kind and caring. I think she loved us all almost as if we were her own family. She almost seemed proud that we were graduating and moving on to try to fulfill our dreams. I believe that Mary had a lot to do with my teenage years and I think she bestowed a lot of morals that I still tightly hold onto today. She was always so proud of her family, always giving us "updates" of how everyone was doing and when she did she would have a look of pride and happiness on her face. She loved you very much. Just know that many friends and the community as a whole are greaving for the loss of a great and wonderful woman. I know she has touched the lives of many and left a great impression on anyone that she spoke with, helped out, guided, or has even giving a kind smile to .. So sorry for your great loss. But I know that she is watching over you,and I hope all of us with that kind, loving smile...

Our condolences to Rex and family. We write this with heavy hearts. Mary was such a wonderful, vibrant, kind-hearted, approachable, happy go lucky person who touched many lives. She always had a smile for you and totally tuned into what you had to say. She was a very out-going person who loved her family dearly and was so proud of her children. She was everyone’s friend and an active contributor to her community on many levels. She was also a good listener and when you would see Mary she always had a smile for you and you would leave the store with a smile on your face. Mary also contributed greatly to the school both as a parent and volunteer. The students of St. Anne’s Academy always looked forward to going to see Mary at lunch time and they did not have to worry if they were a quarter short. You will be missed. RIP, Mary.

I have known Mary since I was a little girl and this past summer my husband and boys had the pleasure of meeting her as well! She will always be remembered for her fun and outgoing personality, my boys remember her as the "fun one" after only being in her presence a couple of times this summer. She was in her element as she sang and danced at Neil and Kayla's wedding and I am sure she is doing the same in Heaven. A new bright and shiny star is now looking down on all of you! Once upon a time when Francis family was trying to get him to give up drinking pepsi, Francis went to the KWIK Way for solace. Kyla and Steve Morrissey, her then boyfriend, followed him to ensure he did not buy any more pepsi. When Kyla and Steve entered the store they found that Mary and Rex had put a can of pepsi in a paper bag and Francis was holding it in his hand, Steve chased Francis all over the store catching this situation on camera, knocking down items off the shelves and Mary and Rex just bent over laughing as they followed the hunt and the chase. We have it on tape and it is hilarious. Thanks Rex for the memories and being such a great friend.

Mary touched everyone with her kindness, honesty and love of life, she was always the life of the party and interested in everyone's lives. We will never forget yours and her kindness to us at the beginnning of Francis's sickness and throughout it. Mary was always very supportive every time I went to Shave's, always telling me to stay strong. I can only say the same thing to you her loving family, try to stay strong and thank you for sharing your wonderful mother and wife with our family. Russell, Frankie sends his condolences to you also. Mary will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Think of the wonderful memories you have of her, I know we will.

Rex, Russell, Denise, & Neil: We were deeply saddened to hear of Mary's death. Our community was totally blessed to have had a person like Mary, always so positive, always so giving of herself for her school, community and church, a very special lady. Matt enjoyed his many visits to your house and your mom always made him feel welcome and comfortable so that he always went back. We know that her spirit will live on in each of you because of the fine adults that you have become. Hold fast to those special memories. We will pray for you during this most difficult time. Rex, Russell, Denise, Neil and families: So sad to hear of Mary's passing. It was such a privilege to have known her and to have worked with her in the school community of St. Anne's. Mary was a pillar of strength to all those around her. She could bring a smile to your face on the hardest of days. Her family was always her priority but she always made time to get involved in the school, church and community. She was a true example of a good christian, a kind, giving and caring lady. It was always so good to run into her at the grocery store and get the news of her children and her new grandchild. She was always so proud of each of you. She will be missed. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. May she rest in peace.

I knew Mary in childhood and was happy to become reaquainted with her when I moved back to Placentia. It was always such a pleasure to bump into her--you were always assured a good chuckle. I'm sorry to hear about Mary passing away. She was a beautiful women and Friend who always made people laugh. I will certainly miss her at the store. She would always ask mom is Amanda coming down today to do the cash for me. She was always joking around and singing at the store. She said something to me one day that I will never forget. Everyone makes mistakes but the ones that don't make mistakes are the ones that don't do anything. She would always ask me or mom how my baby was doing. And then she found out she was going to be a grandmother as well. Me and Tracy were pregnant around the same time so she would ask me how i was and i would ask how Tracy was. she was so happy to be a grandmother. I'm still in shock how fast she went. She will never be forgotten at the store and all around. RIP Mary.

Rex and family, It is truly with a heavy heart to have to say good-bye to this great lady. Mary helped me get my job at the store, and knowing she put that trust in me, is something I will never forget her for. Whether it was working with Mary at the store, or when we would all get together on wednesday evenings at the P4, Mary was the life of it. She had a song for everything, whether it make sense or not, because she knew we would all get that great laugh going, hers always being the loudest.Mary knew how to listen and give words of wisdom, when we would talk about personal things. She was so easy to talk to. Mary knew David and Rylee, and she always asked about them and would tell me things that she remembered about them when they were younger. I have known Mary a long time, and always knew her to be a great person, and becoming a good friend of hers while working with her, has only shown what myself, and everyone else always knew about her...she truly was "one in a million"... I will miss you Mary, keep singing loud enough in heaven, so maybe, just maybe, we might hear you down here. Rest in Peace my friend.

Rex & Family, Eddie & Geraldy & Families I was shocked to hear of Mary's passing. Last July when I was home I dropped into Shave's store to look for something when all of a sudden I hear this lady scream my name and come running to hug me and it was the one and only Mary, I had not seen her in about 15 years before that. We had a great chat reminiscing about Unity Parc days, playing softball and then she filled me in on where the kids were and what they were doing in their lives and of course she beamed when I asked how Rex was doing. It was great to see her again and share a laugh, which we all know Mary loved to do. While it is sad to lose such a loveable Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister & Friend obviously the man upstairs needed a woman with lots of energy to lighten up the place and who better to do that than Mary. May the memories put a smile on your face and help you through this difficult time. Our town has lost another great citizen. RIP Mary you will be missed. Keep smiling down on us all!

My fondest memory of Mary was coming out in front of "Kwik Way" and telling us all that we can't be hanging out in front of the store because customers don't like it. Then to return a few minutes later telling us all to come inside and warm up because it was too cold for us to be outside. You must feel so proud to have had a wife and mother who was truly loved by everyone, both young and old. She certainly left her mark here on earth and will have the same effect in heaven. I have known Mary for many years, and can say for certain she was an extraordinary lady. When my brother took sick, Rex and Mary were such good friends to him. He thought dearly of Mary, and she always had time for his little chats on the phone. When I would see her around, she would always talk about him and ask how he was doing...with her two eyes filled with tears. No better friend could anyone ask for. She had a heart as big as a beef bucket and I can hear her laughter now, which will remain with us all forever. To Mary's children: I am confident she has set these same seeds in each one of you. Carry on her love for life, family and friends, and while this will be no easy journey, rest assured she will be looking down on us all. She was an angel here on earth, taking care of all she knew, always there to lend a helping hand! She loved you dearly and was proud to have raised such wonderful children. Rex,Russell,Denise,Neil & Family, I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Mary's passing. Mary was always a ball of energy and full of laughter. I have many fond memories of Mary, especially while she & Rex ran "Kwik Way" in Dunville. She was a mother to half of Dunville at that time ! I can remember her hauling us in the store on cold nights and she would have the kettle on, rip open a box of hot chocolate or tea and sit and have a 'mug up' with us. I grew up with Russell and right up to the last time I saw Mary, she would greet me with open arms and we'd laugh about 'old times' while we were growing up as kids. She wore her heart on her sleeve and gave a lot to her community. Mary, you will be missed, but certainly NEVER forgotten. RIP and my thoughts are prayers are with you and yours. xo

It is very hard to believe that a woman that in her day was so full of life and love has passed on. I knew Mary from a very young age and can't think of anyone that had as much as energy and spirit and down right love for life and her family. She was certainly one of a kind! I had the pleasure of working with her many years ago as well and there were few days that I cannot remember laughter! My deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.
