Obituary of Fred Nash

Please share a memory of Fred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Fredrick Nash, age 62 of Branch S.M.B. Fred is predeceased by his mother Mary, father Frankie, brother and special friend George, infant brother Clementine and special aunts and uncles, Bridget Power, William McGrath, Margaret English, Fred and Patrick Nash. Leaving to mourn are siblings Nora Coffey (Clifford, deceased), Bridie Laurenson, Clem (Angela) and Stephen (Bernice). With fond memories of uncle Freddy are his nieces and nephews whom he was very proud of: Gerard (Mary), Wanda (Wince), Calvin (Roxann), Anita (Brian), Christopher (Candace), Brittany (Norman) and Stephanie (Corey). Uncle Freddy will also be missed by his great nieces and nephews Krystal, Kayla, Freddy, Wylie, Jarrod, Colton, Catherine, Jim, Patrick and Rankin. As well as special friends Austin and Laura Nash, Dermot Power, Ralph English, Junior Nash, Geraldine Power, Priscilla Corcoran Mooney and Father Peter Power. Fred grew up in the community of Branch, St. Mary’s Bay and resided there until 2012. He spent much of his time with his brother George, cutting hay and firewood and taking care of their horse. He also fished on the Kimberly Dawn with his good friend Adrian. Fred spent countless hours chatting with John Nash, Robert McGrath and Aussie Power. The passing of his core group of friends had a tremendous impact on Fred and in turn he sought a new support system. For the past 12 years, Fred has called Morgan’s Community Care in Kelligrews his home. He thoroughly enjoyed living there and formed many special friendships throughout his stay. Fred was known at Morgan’s for his humor, strict routines, his double double coffee, cigarette breaks and his love for Coronation Street. The residents looked up to Fred and his presence will be deeply missed. He spoke very highly of the staff especially of Kelly, Stephanie and Melva. He will be sadly missed by friends Fred, Rondelle and Barry. Our family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Morgan’s Community Care both past and present for the kindness that they showed him. Fred has always been known for his very dry sense of humor. Even in his final days, his quick wit made those around him smile. He was never in a hurry, took his time through life and lived life on his own terms. Fred was a deep thinker and spent a lot of time analyzing others and the world around him. He had a great memory and would call family members and friends with well wishes on birthdays and other special occasions. Future milestones will feel much different with the absence of Fred’s phone calls. We know that he valued each friendship he formed both old and new. Our family is grateful to everyone who has shown Fred genuine kindness and companionship throughout his life especially to the residents of Branch who continued to ask about Fred and send along well wishes. Thank you to Fred’s doctors who have provided him with professional care in his journey and to the nursing staff at the Dr. L.A. Miller Center, Palliative Care Unit who made his last days very comfortable. Special thanks to family friend Father Leo English for his prayers and support. As per Fred’s request, cremation has taken place and Fred will be buried in Branch, next to his mother, who passed away when he was only an infant. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. Fred will leave the funeral home at 2pm on Saturday, September 7th and travel to his final resting place in Branch. Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Church beginning at 3pm on Saturday and continue following weekly mass on Sunday, September 8th. A vigil service will be held at 7pm on Sunday. Mass and Christian burial will take place on Monday, September 9th at 11 a.m. led by Father Muldowney. Inurnment to follow and a celebration of life at his family home.
