It is with heavy hearts and immense gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Nellie McGrath (nee Follett), beloved mother and devoted wife. She passed peacefully away on March 13 at the age of 80 surrounded by her family at Placentia Hospital. Leaving to carry on without her, her beloved husband of 58 years, Ambrose; two sons - Carl (Janet) and Glenn (Mariko) and two daughters - Beulah (Barry) and Rosalyn (John). Leaving also to carry on, her most cherished grandchildren Ian, Patrick, Dillon, Josh, Colin, Aimee, Jacob and Mila, and one great grandson Theo. She leaves behind her beloved sister Annie (Dave), brother Clarence (Samantha), sister Helen, sisters in law Marion Follett and Rita McGrath. She lived in Patrick's Cove surrounded by a large and supportive McGrath family of brothers and sisters in law, and nieces and nephews. She loved you all dearly and was so grateful for your kindness and the joy you brought to her daily life. She is predeceased by her parents Mary Bridget and John McGrath and Peter Follett, sisters Alice (Robbie) Foley, Evelyn Follett, Esther, Kathleen, and Ida; brothers James Follett, and Adrian, Patrick and Dermot McGrath. She is also predeceased by her parents in law Ignatius and Genevieve McGrath and Elsie, a friend of more than 50 years. Nellie lived a quiet life in Patrick's Cove where she loved to walk, pick berries, sew, and if you could convince her, play the accordian. She had tremendous faith in God and in the power of prayer. Her legacy of faith, love and devotion to family will endure, a guiding light for those she leaves behind. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her presence will always be felt in the warmth of our memories and the love that she bestowed upon us. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Placentia Health Centre, especially Dr Power and Brenda McGrath. Words cannot express our gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion you provided to our mother during her final days.
