It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Michael (Mike) J. Meaney of Colinet, NL. Mike passed peacefully away on April 6, 2022 at the Loins Manor Nursing home in Placentia, NL. Mike will be lovingly remembered and missed by his stepsons: Timothy (Roxanne), Robert (Kelechi) Rodney (Joan) and Sheldon (Sandra), plus a large circle of nieces and nephews and friends. Mike was predeceased by his Parents Richard(Dick) and Margaret (Maggie) Meaney, his wife Elizabeth (Betty), brother Ambrose, sisters: Emma (Earle Mickey), Bride (Patrick Gear) and extended members of the Meaney and Linehan families. Mike was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 33 in Placentia NL for many years where his wore his uniform with great pride and was honored to stand next to his Legion Family. Canada Day and Remembrance Day celebrations were never missed by Mike and before departing he always sand the song he is well known for "Tom Tobin's Dicky Bird". The family of the late Mike Meaney would like to express their appreciation and thanks to all the staff of the Lions Manor Nursing Home Unit 1 for their undivided love, support and care that they have given to Mike in the past year. Thank you to Gloria Drohan of the Best Care Ltd. for providing the great care that has been given to Mike during the years of work you provided. The friendship that was built will always remain. We can not thank you enough to George, Tammy and Billy Gear, the love and kindness that you have shown to Mike in the past year during your visits and outings will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia on August 13, 2022, with Funeral Service and burial to follow.
