Obituary of Eugene Pittman

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Eugene Pittman on August 22, 2021 at Placentia. He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Edna, the pride of his life his four children: Gene(Wendy), Tony (Pam), Mike and his precious daughter Krista (Dave), his five grandchildren: Cael, Gianna, Jack, Gordy and Gabe, his two brothers: Jim (Kay), Charlie (Daphne), his sister Betty (John), his sister in law: Mary, brothers in law Bill (Nina), Tony(Debbie), sister in law Ellen(Michael), nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends. Predeceased by his mother and father Charlie and Liz, his brother Dick, his mother and father in law (Willie and Margaret Greene) . Eugene was a man who made his living for his living for over 50 years doing what he loved fishing. He treated his crew with great respect for their ability and their experience, especially his friend Ray Pomeroy (Deceased), who he worked side-by-side with for 22 years, and his nephew Charlie. He was born on Merasheen Island and was part of resettlement, leaving the island in 1967, but always considered Merasheen, home. He returned every year to allow family and friends to enjoy the beauty of his island home. Eugene had a great love for music, song , story-telling, and " having a time". He will be remembered for his great sense of humour, his laugh and his willingness to help his fellow fishermen, neighbours and friends. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 31 from 2:00 - 9:00 and Wednesday September 1 from 2:00 - 9:00 Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday September 2 , at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia at 2 p.m Funeral Mass will be livestreamed... click on the link for livestreaming There is trouble with internet services at the church.
