To all who knew Mary, they knew her as kind and witty. I spent many hours playing cards with her and Ray at their home in St. Brides. She always had a piece of apricot raisin cake for a mug up before we left. She was a great person and although I haven't seen her in more than thirty years, memories of her bring fond memories for sure. Rest in Peace, Mary. Condolences to her family and friends.

My condolences to Mary’s family, many close friends, Evelyn and Kelly. She was such a part of the Lions Manor Home and she was there when it opened. So many residents enjoyed her friendship. She was involved with everything that went on, whether crafts, cooking, cards or storytelling. It was a pleasure to know her. Rest In Peace Mary.

In Proverbs 27:9, we are reminded that, "A sweet friendship refreshes the soul," and I have no doubt that in her lifetime Mary-Ray was indeed the essence of sweetness, companionship, and faith. Her devotion to Mary and all the saints were prominent in her daily actions and prayer. As a young woman I was honored to visit Mary-Ray frequently. Although fairly oblivious at that age, we were indeed blessed to be surrounded by strong and resilient women, who were ahead of their time in fierce independence and unwavering wisdom. Mary-Ray cut-a-shine out of my marriage to a young fella from her hometown of Point Lance and to commemorate the occasion she gifted Martin and I a rosary (31 years ago). In the words of her equally lovely husband, may she continue to "rattle her beads" for us all and May she rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Mary's passing. Wonderful lady with a beautiful smile and she always had that little twinkle in her eyes when she knew you were up to badness. She told it like it was. I will always remember her kindness and gentleness and that smile. She is truly an angel sent from above and now she has returned home to her heavenly family. R.I.P. beautiful angel.

Friends and relatives of Mary:
Please accept our sincere condolences on Mary's passing. Growing up in Patrick's Cove and attending school there, students had to write Public Examinations in all all academic courses at the end of Grades 1X, X and XI. For Grades IX and X , I did my "publics" at the centre in St. Bride's and stayed at the home of Raymond and Mary. I have fond memories of these fine people - their welcoming personalities and generosity. May they both rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to the family on the passing of this lovely lady. I had the privilege of meeting her years ago when our choir would perform at the Lions Manor at Christmas time . We always had a little chat afterwards and I always told her that she had the softest hands of anyone I had ever met. May her gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Mary if every prayer you sent to heaven was answered then those of us the petitions were for are truly blessed .
I feel like I have known you forever and really I have the day your sister Ella entered the Lions Manor as a resident you became family no visit or holiday was complete without some of your wonderful baking that apricot cake was always like a piece of heaven I will treasure the recipe and always enjoyed bringing it to you so you could have a taste of your own Christmas.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me you thought some questions were silly I’m sure but without your help my dough balls would forever sink to the bottom of the boiler .
COVID stopped me being able yo visit you but you were never far from my mind .
Your rest has been earned, I hope your prayers continue to work and your biggest prayer has been answered to be reunited with your family. Emma

Mary was my Friend. I have been doing her hair for years. It was always a pleasure to be in her company. Her wise advice and guidance will be missed. She will be missed mostly when in doubt, She’d remind you to have faith and all would work out.
Rest In Peace sweet kind lovely Lady. I will love and miss you always. You are reunited with your Husband once again.
I guess an Angel will do your hair for you now.

Aunt Mary-the kindest, warmest, most non-judgemental, most patient, most welcoming and most forgiving person I’ve ever known. My second Mom growing up and no matter the time, distance or gaps in contact, she always welcomed you with open arms, a smile and a hug. God Bless, Mary!

It was a very sad day for many of us at Lions Manor today. Mary was with us for 22 years and became family to many of our staff and volunteers. We have many great memories with Mary and already Lions Manor feels different without her - there is a feeling of absence and I expect that will linger for a while. Mary and I were best friends even though our ages were a lifetime apart and she often referred to me as the "daughter I never had" but in the same sentence often said "I'll never have you reared" She was serious about that lol When my shift ended each day she would always say "So long" and I knew what it meant without her telling me - it meant this may be the last time we see each other. She was a great influence in my life and I'm so glad I had a chance to have had her in my life. So now I'll say so long Mary - I will miss you.
.
I'll like to share something Mary wrote to me when I was in need of support through trials and tribulations in my own life.
Believe in yourself - in the power you have to control your own life day by day.
Believe in the strength that you have deep inside and your faith will help show you the way
Believe in tomorrow and what it will bring let a hopeful heart carry you through for things will work out
If you trust and believe - there's no limit to what you can do.
