Dear Mrs. King, Michelle, Loise, Dylan, Jorja, and all relatives and close friends of Shawn,
We are shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Shawn. We extend our deepest condolences to you, and we pray that all of the wonderful memories that you have of Shawn will help you get through this most difficult time of sorrow, and bring smiles to your faces.
I (Terry) have fond memories of the enthusiasm, energy, and passion shown by Shawn in every activity he was involved in while growing up in Fox Harbour.
I never did see Shawn again after I moved to Toronto upon finishing high school. However, my sister Yvonne (God bless her soul) always kept me updated on Shawn’s activities, courtesy of her friendship with Michelle. One memory in particular, which stirred immense pride and excitement in me and many former Fox Harbour residents (and other die-hard Newfoundlanders) living in Toronto and other parts of Ontario in the early 1990’s was when Shawn and his Placentia area Rock Band, “Rogue’s Gallery”, had won a couple of “Battle of the Bands” competitions, and were competing as one of the three finalists for the grand finale in Toronto, hosted by one of the biggest Rock Radio Stations (Q107) in Canada! It was a night to remember, as Shawn and Rogue’s Gallery performed flawlessly, and captivated the audience with their superb Newfoundland home grown talent.
It only seems like yesterday when I visited Mrs. King (my exceptional Grade Eight Teacher at St. Regis School) at her home in Fox Harbour in 2008. I enjoyed our wonderful conversation, as Mrs. King updated me on the exploits of Shawn in Toronto. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that, in addition to his musical prowess and song writing mastery, he was designing sets for movies and television shows, showing once again what a talented individual he was.
Shawn definitely left this earth too soon, but during his short stay, he had a huge impact on the people he met, in a positive way, especially in the arts community!! And this is most evident by the diverse number of people, from all walks of life, who have offered their condolences to the King and Rebernik families. Shawn, may you Rest In Peace in Heaven with angels.
Sincerely, Terry, May and Ian King Brampton, ON

My deepest condolences Louise, Dylan Jorja, Aunt Mary, Michelle, Al and family. Shawn will be dearly dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I will miss him teasing me and our stubborn arguments on who had a better sense of directions and who was right. Shawn taught me my first chords on the guitar and as a young boy I remember Shawn playing drums and riding a motorcycle and later watching him play in various bands. I will miss my visits with him and our chats. We had a lot of good times with family. I hope your memories bring you love, warmth and comfort. Shawn would want you to stay strong. I am thinking of all of you. Love Derrick Willcott

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to Mary, Michelle, Louise and kids Dylan and Jorga. We were so shocked to hear of Shawn’s passing. Shawn was a childhood friend of mine and was the best man at our wedding when we got married 37 years ago. Through the years we did lose touch some what but never forgot to call him for his birthday. Shawn’s love for music certainly rings through in the song he wrote for his beloved daughter Meghann. He always had a smile for all. He will be dearly missed and remembered always. Rest easy my friend until we meet again.

This photo is pure classic Shawn. His smiling eyes always spoke volumes. I always found his quiet nature and non-judgemental ways so very admirable. Shawns music brought him so much joy and friendships but his children were everything to him. Rest easy Shawn with your Meghynn and Dad.

Nadia and I had the pleasure of getting to know Shawn through Louise. I can still remember the day Nadia called to tell me that she thought Shawn looked like a hard-case. Fast forward a week later and she was calling to tell me that he was more like a soft teddy bear. All it took to change her mind was to see him reading a book to Jorja. He was kind-hearted, soft spoken, and shared an undeniable love for his family. It was clear to everyone that he lit up when he spoke about his kids. In the years to follow, we got to know Shawn more and more. Whenever we'd stop in, he's always make an effort to come say a quick hi or to check-in to see what was new in our lives. He helped us from assessing our house next door, to repairing our kitchen cupboards and in true Shawn fashion, he never asked for anything in return. Shawn's love for his Jorja, Dylan, Louise, and his family is something that will live on forever. I hope that we can all love as deeply as Shawn did. I will forever remember the beautiful song he wrote for his daughter Meghynn. I hope that they find peace together.

This is heartbreaking. Shawn was one of the first people I met in Newfoundland, so friendly, so kind, so talented, such an easy smile and wonderful soul. He cared so deeply about his work and the people who shared in it. I feel fortunate to have known him even for a brief time..and the world suddenly feels like a much lonelier place. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

The shock and sadness I felt when I learned of Shawn's passing is indescribable. My heartfelt condolences to Louise and the children for thier tragic loss. Know that it is a loss felt by anyone that knew this good-natured, kind and generous man. Though I only met Shawn recently we quickly progressed from work colleagues to true friends. I have great memories of our time in Rogues Gallery many years ago. Shawn was the songwriter who gave the band legs. I’ve always been grateful to have been lucky enough to be the voice of the band and sing those killer songs. I would not have had a solo music career without the band & those songs. R.I.P. Shawn. My sincere condolences to the family.

I was very fortunate to get the chance to work with Shawn on a movie in Newfoundland. He was so skilled and efficient and full of solutions. Beyond that, he was welcoming and supportive and went above and beyond for us. I was left wondering when we would have a chance to work together again and looking forward to it. He was a kind and gentle friend to me when I was far from home and my heart breaks for his family who he was clearly devoted to. I was blessed to know him.
