Nora Ellen Morrissey (Spurvey)
1969-2019
After a 12 year courageous battle with cancer, Nora passed away at her home in Camarillo, California with her loved ones by her side (August 21, 2019). Nora parted this world knowing she was so loved by her family and friends.
Nora Ellen Spurvey-Morrissey was born October 29, 1969. Nora moved to the United States in 1993. She loved life and was full of energy. She lived life to the fullest and loved to travel around the world. Nora loved people and touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. She loved to host get-togethers in her home. It brought her joy when people ate, drank and danced in her home. Nora was very proud of being a Newfoundlander and although she lived in the United States for many years, she refused to become a citizen.
Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Spurvey and her brother, Michael (jr.) Spurvey.
Nora leaves to mourn her children, Gregory Duncan (Stephanie) and Keely Morrissey (aka, Keelybug). Nora loved her children dearly.
Also leaving to mourn with amazing memories, is Nora’s “big” sister and caretaker, Sharon Giles (Rod) and “little brother”, Terry Spurvey (Debbie). She will be greatly missed by her niece, Tiffany Minjares (Michael) and their children, Mia and Caleb. Tiffany, Mia and Caleb loved their “Nonie” and shared a special bond.
Nora will also be missed by her many cousins, aunts and uncles and all of her amazing friends. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the friends she considered “sisters” that helped with her care in the last months of her life – Christie Holroyd, Amy Greenamyer, Heidi Peters, Silvana Budge, Erin Bock, and Janet Talmadge. She was so thankful to each of you for your amazing friendships and unconditional love. A special thank you to her brother, Terry and wife, Debbie, for traveling to California to be by her side in the end.
