Gertrude Duke July 20th, 1943-July 23rd, 2026
Passed peacefully away at the Placentia Health Care Center on July 23rd, 3 days after her 83rd birthday, surrounded by her loving family.
Gertrude Duke of Fox Harbour. Predeceased by her husband, Jim (2010); her precious daughhter, Geraldine; her parents, William and Jane Murray; her brother, Robert; sisters, Madeline and Janet; Father and Mother-in-law, William and Margaret Duke; brothers-in-law, Ronald Spurvey, Leo Duke, Donny King, Karin Gambin and Dave Spurvey; sisters-in-law, Sarah, Bride, Nell, Mary and Dorothy (her buddy) and brothers-in-law, Leo and Raymond Traverse, Tom Roache and Don Quilty.
Leaving to remember all the beautiful memories are her Children and Grandchildren Bill (Joanne) Dylan (Makenna) Shannon (Travis) Victoria. Bob (Wanda) Jessica (Nathan) Meghan. Jamie (Denise) Avery. Jim (Michelle) Jamie (Nikita) Aaliyah and Jace, Josh (Christina) Bria and Johnny. Dick (Izzy) Richard , Colin and Jaxon. Her sisters Laura, Ethel, Margaret, Anne (Anslem) Marion (Joe), Jean and her only brother Mike (Kitt). Brother-in-law Francis Healey and her good friend Mary Donahue as well as Mary, Pete, Neil and Anne and their families; along with her nieces and nephews of the Duke and Murray Family.
Gert was a wise woman and Queen of the kitchen, from making wedding cakes years ago to organizing wedding with her famous Cold Plates. She loved to see people come visit either for a chat, cup of tea, drink of lambs and a sing a long her door was always opened.
The family would like to thank Placentia Health Care Team, St Clares Mercy Hospital 7 west, her social Workers Kiera and Karen for their professionalism and guidance and great care. Thanks to her niece Kelly Culleton for her prompt visits when needed and to Vicki Traverse for being there when we needed you. Although it is hard to mention each and everyone of you no act of kindness has been forgotten.
Visitation to be held at Coombs Funeral Home on Sunday July 26th from 2pm-8pm and Monday July 27th from 9am-11am. Funeral Service to take place at 11 am in Coombs Memorial Chapel followed by burial at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fox Harbour.
