Obituary of David Gordon Bailey

David Gordon Bailey September 7, 1952 - July 9, 2026 David Bailey passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 73. He will be lovingly remembered and mourned by his daughters Carrie and Leah, his brother Tom, his nephew Thomas, and his niece Jennifer. He was predeceased by his mother Winnie, his father David Wayne, and his beloved cat, Reagan. During his career, Dave worked as a Power Engineer at Harveys, retiring after an impressive 37 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and salmon fishing, spending many peaceful days on the river and in the woods surrounded by nature. He was an exceptionally intelligent man with a wealth of knowledge and always had a story to tell. Fueled by countless hours of speed reading and researching history and family genealogy—two of his greatest interests. Many may have not known this about Dave, but he was also incredibly kind-hearted and cared deeply about animal welfare. He devoted special attention to the stray cat population on Jerseyside hill, making sure they were fed and well cared for. He also opened his home to two of them, his beloved Lady and Erik the Red. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Schabell family, especially Bern and Ken, for their many years of friendship, support, and compassionate care. Dave was truly considered a member of their family, and words cannot adequately express our gratitude for everything they contributed to his life and well-being. In keeping with his wishes to be cremated, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. His family will mourn his passing together privately.
