Obituary of William John Barry

Passed peacefully away on July 9, 2026, Mr. William J. Barry, of Placentia, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 85 years. William (Bill) was born in Red Island in 1940 and lived there until his family resettled in Placentia in 1968. William made his life as a fisherman from the Cape Shore to Cape St. Mary's, providing a good life for his family. He and his brother Thomas, grew up together, fished together, lived next door to each other and raised their families together. Bill was a hard working, strong and kind man. He will always be rememberd for his strength, faith, work ethic and dedication to his family. Predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Norman) Barry; his parents, Thomas and Annie (Dollmont) Barry; siblings, Thomas, Kathleen, Loretta and Mary. Leaving to mourn with treasured memories, his wife, Patricia; children, Bill (Kelly), Ann Marie (Terry), Kathy (Dave) and John (Sheila); his grandchildren, Alanna, Allan, Melissa, Kayla, Katie, Jennifer, David and Peter; great-grandchildren, Mya, Ava, Wesley, Kayleigh and Hunter and special sister-in-law, Kathleen and brother-in-law, Din Hefferan. Also leaving to mourn is a number of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the nurses, doctors and all the staff at the Placentia Health Centre and Lions Manor Nursing Home. The compassionate, kind and respectful care shown, not only to William, but to the family as well, was truly exceptional. Visitation to take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 1-8 p.m. Funeral Service to take place on Saturday, July 11th in Coombs Memorial Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Coombs Memorial Cemetery, Southeast, Placentia.
