Obituary of Nora Mary Manning

Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Home in the presence of her loving family, Nora Mary Manning (O'Keefe), aged 90 years. Predeceased by her husband John (2010); beloved son Jerome (2025); parents, Jeremiah and Laura O'Keefe; son-in-law, Cyril Conway; siblings, Bob, Eddie, George, Raymond, Gladys, Catherine, Dorothy, Florence, Theresa, Madeline and Jerry. Leaving to mourn, her children, Ted (Debbie),John (Linda), Kenneth (Elizabeth), Glenda (Wayne), Gail (Steve), Michelle (Gordon), Sharon and Tammy. She is also survived by her special sisters, Madonna (Clifford), Rose (Joe), Ruth and Lucy, and sister-in-law, Linda. She leaves to mourn numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as friends and neighbours. Nora moved from Big Barasway to Cuslett in 1955 and worked with her husband to raise a large family. She baked bread, milked cows, and tended to the flower garden that she loved so much. She enjoyed traveling to Labrador, Calgary, and to visit her sisters in the USA. Over the past couple of years she has lost some memories with the onset of dementia. However, she has made new ones with her family, home care workers, friends, and long term care staff as she continued to enjoy gardening, praying, doing crossword puzzles, walking, berry picking and spending time with her beloved cat Patches. Her face would light up while eating a piece of fruit cake made by her nephew Arthur or cuddling beneath the gorgeous quilt made with love by her niece Donna. She is now reunited with her loved ones gone before her. The family would like to extend a thank you to her home care workers Rosalyn Manning and Roxanne Whalen. To the staff at St. Luke’s Home, the family extends their gratitude for their provision of care over the past weeks. A special thank you is extended to the people of Cuslett who have provided endless support and kindness through their visits, phone calls, meals and friendship. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in St. Bride’s. The family will be leaving the Funeral Home on Monday, June 22nd at 3:00 p.m. to go to Sacred Heart Church in St. Bride's. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Parish Church in St. Brides’s on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations can be made to the St. Bride’s Church Fund.
