Nora (Manning) Campbell posted a condolence
Sunday, July 5, 2026
Dear Cousins,
I am deeply sorry to hear about Aunt Nora's passing. Though we didn't grow up close by, I cherish our childhood memories. It was always exciting when mom and dad would take us on summer vacation to the Cape Shore, to visit all of our relatives. Aunt Nora and Uncle Johnny were always so excited to see us and they welcomed us with open arms. The story telling and laughter between your parents and mine was memorable to say the least. We kids had so much fun outside playing games like, red rover red rover, red light green light, what time is it Mr Wolf, so on and so forth. It didn't take much to keep us happy.
Aunt Nora appeared to keep herself busy. Imagine, up until a short time ago she was actively getting her steps in around Cuslett. I bet she was still baking for family and friends, probably still hanging clothes on the line or puttering around the property making sure everything was it good shape. I loved the photo that Tammy posted of your mom enjoying a nice cup of tea out in her garden. rest in peace Aunt Nora, you will be missed. Cuslett will never be the same.
Ted, John, Kenneth, Glenda, Gail, Sharon, Michelle and Tammy, you are in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve the loss of your mom. I am sure you made her proud.
Love, Nora

My dear cousins,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Aunt Nora’s passing. She was a truly kind-hearted, hardworking & welcoming woman whose home was always open to family & friends. I always enjoyed my visits with her. No notice was ever needed. The kettle was always on, there was fresh homemade bread, a variety of delicious homemade jams &, most importantly, a warm welcome waiting at the door.
No matter how much work she may have had to do, your mom always took the time to sit, chat, listen & ask about family. She kept up with everyone’s lives & genuinely cared about how they were doing. She possessed an incredible memory for people, places & family connections & she was a wonderful source of stories & information that helped keep our family history alive.
The things that mattered most to her were her faith & her family. Alongside your wonderful father, she raised a large family grounded in love, hard work, humility & devotion to each another. She was incredibly proud of each of you.
One of the things I admired most about your mom was her calm & gentle nature. Even during the busiest years when her home was full of children & there was endless work to be done, she never seemed rushed or overwhelmed. She carried herself with a quiet strength, contentment & grace that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
You’ve taken such loving care of your mother since your father’s passing … just as he would have wanted you to . And now her passing marks the end of an era for our family … a generation whose lives were defined by faith, family, hard work & service to others. I will miss being able to drop in for a visit & I will miss receiving her Christmas card each year, always accompanied by a thoughtful note.
May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace. It brings comfort to know that she is reunited with Uncle Johnny, Jerome & with the many members of our parents’ generation who have gone before her. I can only imagine the joy of that long awaited reunion.
My heartfelt condolences to each of you . May the many wonderful memories you shared bring you comfort & peace in the days ahead.
With sympathy and love.
Anne

Sending along our deepest condolences to Ted, John, Kenneth, Glenda, Gail, Michelle, Sharon, Tammy and all the family members of Aunt Nora at this difficult time.
As with many others there is a multitude of wonderful memories of our visits to the “Lower Road in Cuslett”, first as children ourselves and then to share the experience with our own children and grand children. There was always a genuine welcome from Uncle Johnny and Aunt Nora. In recent years, Aunt Nora would love to chat and tell stories of days gone by and it was a delight to be in her company. She was always so humble, kind and never, ever in a hurry. Her passing is the end of an era that we were so fortunate to have been part of. We were indeed blessed to have grown up on the Cape Shore surrounded by all our family such as Aunt Nora whose quiet and caring way was a life lesson for all of us to take to heart.
May her gentle soul Rest In Peace!!

Ted, John, Kenneth, Glenda, Gail, Michelle, Sharon, and Tammy; I offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear mother. Aunt Nora was indeed one of a kind. She was as genuine as one could hope to meet. She was kind and caring and thoroughly devoted to her family. I recall how intently she absorbed every detail of our updates on family when we visited. Both she and Uncle Johnny were the most generous of hosts. May she rest in well-earned peace now as she rejoins those who have gone before her. Cherish the memories she has left for you.

To all the extended Manning family, I am so sorry to hear that “Johnnie’s Nora” passed away. She was always kind and welcoming to me, when I came to her house. She always pulled out a chair for you. Even though she had so much to do, she would sit down for a chat. Her bright eyes could look right into you. I am also thinking of her sister Madonna, who I know loved to spend time with her. I am sending my deepest condolences to all of you, as you say goodbye to your Mother, Grandmother, sister and friend. Godspeed, Nora, as you fall into the arms of the angels. Please accept my sympathy for your loss. Yvonne (Manning) Brien.
