I had the honour of meeting Betty while visiting Nova Scotia with her daughter and granddaughter a couple of years ago. She showed us around Nova Scotia, and PEI (my first time to both provinces), and took us to a number of museums. I had a fantastic time, with loads of memories. Thank you Betty.

It is with heavy hearts that we send our condolences to the family of Betty Fox. Betty was a big part of our church in Dunville from the first day that she arrived. Right away she was helping out with little repairs that needed to be done and being a faithful member. Her involvement fastly lead into taking part on committees to help in the business part of church and sharing her knowledge and talents. Her involvement went further by actually preparing and leading us in worship through zoom and in church! She kept us all connected during Covid and spread the word of God to people beyond our little community of faith! She continued to do so up until her death and actually beyond! She had her daily sharing of songs on line scheduled to come out while in recovery from surgery and we were so blessed to actually receive her favorite song the day after her death! Our hearts were so filled with both sadness and joy upon receiving that post! Betty was a god-sent angel from Angel's Cove! She was full of God's spirit and kindness that she shared with others so willingly, thoughtfully and enthusiastically. She was loved by us all and she considered us her church family. She will be missed so deeply but will always be in our hearts and a part of our church with the many memories, special gestures and reminders that she have left behind. Rest in peace our dear friend and faithful servant of God! You are certainly now soaring with the angels and encouraging us to carry on. God speed Betty! Love always from your Dunville United Church family!

I first knew her as “the Cape Shore Lady” when she started swimming at the Y. I always admired how she was such a strong, agile swimmer and I told her how I wished I could do laps like her. She loved Angels Cove, how she loved watching the boats coming and going, and the peace that it brought to her. My condolences to her family. May she rest in peace.

We extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends who mourn the passing of our dearly beloved friend and coworker Betty. Unfortunately I never met her until after my retirement and served as Retired Supply on the Whitbourne Charge. She went above and beyond an ordinary parishioner and went the extra mile of service to keep me informed on the current events in the Dunville congregation. She graciously accepted any assigned task with a smile and joy in her heart and left no stone unturned to ensure the job was done to perfection. She loved to be Of Service where ever there was a need and graciously accepted gratitude. Her whole life was characterized by compassion, patience, kindness, forgiveness and love. She may have had a Sergeant’s mind but she had a loving and tender heart. She lived by the motto bloom where you are planted and by so doing, she showered us with sweet memories. Sergeant, rest in peace in the Mansion Christ has prepared for us all. We shall meet again! God Bless! John and Dallas.

The things I will miss most about my mom are to many to count but a few of them are that as a child she would always make time for me and my friends. She would have leaf fights with in the yard taught us ceramics. When she first became a lifeguard, she chose to teach the handicap children how to swim, and I got to show them how to do the Buddy hob at the front roll as her demonstrator. She included me in everything she did. Made sure I was in therapy when they got divorced told me funny stories about her time in the military. She took me not dad when she got her medal in Ottawa and so many more great experiences. I will love her always

Betty was a truly one of a kind person, and easily the most hard working individual I ever had the pleasure to know. From my time working at Burry Heights, I grew to respect her far more than a boss or property manager, but a guide in spirit and a role model. I may have been intimiated by the "paper towel math", or been on the wrong end of an email about a sock left in a room once or twice, but it was the little things that Betty noticed that shows how truly she cared about our camp. It was her camp, really.
And then, I realized that Burry Heights is just one chapter of the interesting life Betty has led. Reading the other messages posted here and online, I'm not sure if I've ever known someone who meant so much to so many and touched so many lives. What a special person she was, and we're lucky to have known her.
Rest in Peace Betty Fox. We will feel your spirit down here every day.

Sarge, as I called her when I worked at Berry Heights… a kind, compassionate and very fair Lady.
She made me so very welcomed and it was an honour to be a part of her kitchen staff, we had many a belly laugh at times , it was a summer I’ll never forget…. And I’ll never forget Sarge.. fly high my friend, soar high above, farewell.

I would like to extend condolences to Betty’s family and friends, on behalf of the Ocean View Quilters Guild, Conception Bay South. Our Guild goes to Burry Heights for our retreats and we met Betty when she was on site. She was a great friend to our Guild. She was so caring, so obliging and eager to do what she could to make our stay the best it could be. We have fond memories of her and missed her so much after she retired. She left a big gap; going to our retreats was not the same without her at Burry Heights.

So sad when I received the news of Betty’s passing.
I met Betty while at Burry Heights attending a function and we connected right away as she did with most of those she met.! It wasn’t long after that first meeting Betty reached out to me to take a position at the camp. When I took the position was then I could see the care and dedication she had for Burry Heights and the love she had for( her kids) working tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly . All who knew her saw the time and energy she volunteered to make Burry Heights the finest experience you can have in your life. She touched many lives over the years and especially
Mine and Wanda’s. Rest in peace Betty.

Caring, compassionate, loving, and faithful are just a few of the amazing qualities Betty had, and carried throughout her day-to-day life. She put those qualities in every person she met. Not forcefully, but anyone who met her became a better person just from being able to watch how she carried herself on a daily basis. Betty was one of a kind, a force to be reconned with, and I’m truly honoured to have known her, but to also work along side of her. I say along side of her because she always made sure you felt like you were apart of her family, and treated you as such. I would not be the person I am today without her guidance, and support throughout the years. It’s a rare thing to have such a special soul come into so many peoples lives and impact each and everyone of them for the better. For that, I consider myself extremely lucky to be one of those people. I am devastated that she is no longer here, but I know her legacy and spirit will live on for entirety. Sending my sincere condolences to Betty’s family.

So saddened to hear of Betty's passing. She was so giving of herself and her talents to help others and spread God's word. She was a god sent angel to our church in Dunville from the first time that she blessed us with her presence. She was a jack of all trades, a leader and a great communicator. She was a caring friend to us all and we loved and appreciated her so much. She will be missed beyond measure. Rest in peace Betty! My condolences to all her family.
