Obituary of Dermot Joseph O'Keefe

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dermot Joseph O’Keefe of Great Barasway, on May 17, 2026 at the Carbonear General Hospital, age 77 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Kevin and mother Gertrude. He leaves behind; son Chris, daughter Cathy (Trevor), grandson Aiden, Joan Keats, Sheila O’Keefe, brother Reginald, and niece Janet. He lived in his family home in Great Barasway where he enjoyed years working on cars and camping with his partner Joan. He loved animals, especially his cats. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, including his extended family all over the Cape Shore. Special thanks to the staff and nurses at Carbonear General Hospital for the care and support provided to the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place on Wednesday, May 20th from 2-7 p.m. at Coombs Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 21st, at 11:00 a.m. in Coombs Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Great Barasway.
