Obituary of Stan Short
Please share a memory of Stan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stanislaus (Stan) Short passed away peacefully on the afternoon of April 20th at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by his loving wife, Patsy, and family.
Predeceased by his parents, Monica and Frank Short, and his brother, Ronald Short, Stan leaves behind a lifetime of memories for those who loved him. He is deeply mourned by his devoted wife of 63 years,
Patsy; his daughters, Shelia (Mark), Debbie (Wayne), and Valerie; and his son-in-law, Paul. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jessica, Sean, Rachel, Gabe, Sarah, Abby, Kristine, Katelyn, and Matthew, as well as his great-grandchildren.
Stan is also mourned by his siblings: Pat Roul (Johnny), Kay Bramwell (Tom), Rick Short (Fay), Rock Short, Mary Maddox (Terry), Terry Short (Joanne), and Sarah Short. He will be remembered by his
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bud and Sandra Duffet, Glad and Linda Dalton, and Terry and Cathy Dalton. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were very special to him.
Born in Kingston, Conception Bay North, Stan married Patsy in the summer of 1963 and made their home in Placentia, where they built a life together and raised their family. A dedicated autobody mechanic, Stan took great pride in his work and spent many years at Maher’s Garage in Placentia.
Stan had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He treasured his time trouting in his boat on the pond and enjoyed many summers at the cabin. He was a longtime member of the Placentia Star of the Sea and found great joy in simple pleasures—playing cards, throwing darts, and sharing a cold beer with friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences for their care and compassion during his brief illness.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or service at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Stan’s memory may be made to the SPCA or a charity of one’s choice.
