Obituary of Bert George

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bert George, who passed away on March 17, 2026 in Carbonear. Bert was born on November 1st, 1940 in Harricott to Allan and Jemina George. He is remembered for his kindness, hardworking nature and love for his family. Predeceased by his wife Gertie (1989); brothers Walter, Gordon, Fred, Hughie and Willis. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Jackie, Larry (Brenda) and Terry (Nicole); his partner of 33 years, Yvonne and her children, Shawn, Jamie (Kerri), Mark (Ashley) and his grandchildren, Brittany (Dylan), Ryan (Amanda), Kyle (Jessica), Kaitlyn, Christian, Maddy, Avery, Brooke, Ava, Alex, and Jacob; great-grandchildren Carson, Austin, and Isla; sisters Minnie and Mary and a large group of family and friends Bert was a devoted partner, loving father and proud grandfather, who cherished and loved his family above all else. Thank you to the Lions Manor for his care and to the Carbonear General Hospital for their compassion and support. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home, Friday March 20, 2026 from 1pm to 9pm. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Anne’s Church in Dunville on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:30 am. Inurnment to follow at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dunville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory. “He held our hands when we were small, And caught us every time we’d fall. As a grandfather his love only grew, A steady, gentle strength we always knew.”
