Obituary of William Power Jr.

Passed peacefully away after a long, hard fought battle with cancer, at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care, William Power Jr, age 65 years. Predeceased by his father, William P. Power Sr., his mother Mercedes Power, his sister Delores (Byrne), as well as grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Growing up in Freshwater, Placentia Bay, Billy loved trouting, riding his CCM bike, playing ball, hockey on the pond, and sliding with his siblings and friends. Billy had a big heart. He never forgot his loved one's birthdays or Christmas. He always gave a card with a lotto ticket inside. He called everyone to see how they were doing, even during his battle with cancer. He lived life on his terms. He enjoyed playing poker, watching sports, and always voiced his opinions on current affairs. He loved a good joke and engaging in conversation on many topics, and playing a tune on his harmonica. Leaving to mourn with many beautiful memories, are his brothers, Theophilus, Alphonsus, Kevin (Judy), Mark, Bon (Natalie); sisters, Shirley, Theresa (Cliff), Cathy (Louis); his nieces, nephews, and special friend, Edele. Many thanks to the Cancer Care Centre staff at the Health Sciences Centre and the Palliative Care staff at the Miller Centre. Your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. A Celebration of life will take place at Coombs Funeral Home, later this summer, as it was Billy's favourite season. Donations in Billy's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
