Obituary of Rose Alethia Hedlund

Rose Alethia Hedlund, of Dunville, Newfoundland, passed away on the 4th of February, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. A woman who met every person she encountered with a warm and genuine smile. Rose had a way of making the world feel a little more welcoming for everyone she knew. Rose was a talented baker whose kitchen was always open. She was well known for the great bread she shared generously with family, friends, and neighbors alike. She was a lifelong learner who took great joy in picking up new crafts, always finding a creative way to spend her time. She especially loved working with the local theatre group, bringing smiles and laughter to the community. Some of her happiest moments were spent outdoors with her husband, William, riding their side-by-side with their faithful dog, Maggie, by her side. As a mother, Rose was a constant source of love for her sons, Cory (wife, Krista) and Greg (partner, Steve). Her grandchildren, Emma and Liam, were her greatest pride and the absolute lights of her life. Rose deeply cherished the time she spent with her friends and her siblings. She is survived by her siblings, Elaine, Rex, Maxine, Helena, Catherine, and Joanne. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara, Glenda, and brother, Selby. Rose’s warmth and kindness were a gift to us all. She brought blue skies to our lives, and how we wish she were here. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Dunville Lions Club on the 12th February 2026 from 2 p.m to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Daffodil place.
