Obituary of Osborne Tobias (Toby) McGrath

We are saddened to announce the passing of Toby (Osborne Tobias) McGrath of Vancouver, BC (formerly of St.Johns, NL) who passed away in the early morning of January 4, 2026 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Toby was predeceased by his parents Osborne Sr. and Violet (O'Keefe) McGrath, brother Edgar(Barb,deceased) and sisters, Ann Marie Young (Clifford) and Linda Snow (Kevin,deceased). Leaving to mourn and celebrate his life are his brothers, Harold and Wayne as well as sisters, Carol Ann Dohey (Phil), Diane (George,deceased) and Sylvia (Myles,deceased) all in Newfoundland and Sharon (Judson, deceased) of Albuquerque NM. Toby is lovingly remembered as well by many nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of extended family and friends, especially by special cousins and friends, Ken Power and Gerald OKeefe, as well as best friend, Charles of Cleveland Ohio. Toby was born in Placentia, NL in July 1955, growing up in Patrick;s Cove and Great Barachois. After finishing high school he completed undergraduate studies at Memorial University, St.Johns NL. He then went on to graduate in nursing studies at Vancouver BC. He spent his early nursing career in cardiac care in Oakland, CA. Later he worked in palliative care in Vancouver BC. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kearney Funeral Services in Vancouver, BC.
