It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Clement O’Keefe JR, aged 78, of Freshwater, Placentia Bay, on December 6, 2025. He passed in the presence of his children, who have been by his side for the past several months, during his health issues. He is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Ida Careen O’Keefe, his mother and father, Clement and Sarah O’Keefe, his in-laws, Lawrence and Elizabeth Careen. His brothers, Bud and David. Also gone before him, members of the Careen family, Hannah, Allan, Rose and Leo Gardiner, Edmund, Kevin, Dorothy and Millie; brother-in-law, Ned McDonald and sister-in-law, Debbie Careen. He leaves to mourn his greatest gifts, his cherished children, Bridget (Terry Cochrane), Kimberley (George O’Keefe), Tammy (Greg Picco), Edmund (Stephanie Smith) and Stephanie (Alex Greene) and Tony (Michelle); his 9 grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Josh, Dheal, Justin and Blake, Ashley, Kaity and Abby, and 2 great grandchildren, Emma and Claire. His siblings, Hughie (Dolores), Gerard (Emma), Terry (Betty), Len (Yvonne), Nick, Bob (Margie), Randy, Jim (Cathy) and Joe; his sisters, Ellen (Philip Gardiner), Fran (Dennis Hefferan) and Sarah (Andy Daley) and sister-in-law, Elaine Lake. His many nieces and nephews. Also remembered by his in-laws, Madeline McDonald (Mike), Clem Careen, Aloysisus Careen, Clarence Careen (Judy), Gertie Careen and Bernadine Brennan and a very large circle of other relatives and friends. Clem was a good man, who worked hard his whole life providing for his family, whom he loved dearly. He would never see anyone stuck, he helped many over the years and gave freely where he could. He worked in many industries over the years with the most of them being in Long Harbour at the ERCO plant, where he won many awards and was acknowledged for his dedication, leadership and hard work. In his later years, he ended his long career, retiring from the federal government with Public Works and Government Services, a job he truly enjoyed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. At Clem’s request, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. He will be reunited with his wife Ida in Coombs Memorial Cemetery, at a later date.
