Uncle Ray’s warm and inviting spirit always greeted us when arrived at the house, “Hello, B’y! Come on in!” His door was always open, and so was his heart, welcoming family and friends into his home, where laughter flourished.
Uncle’s cheerful disposition and contagious smile brought joy to every gathering. He had a unique ability to engage in discussions with candor, share stories, and uplift those around him. I carry dear memories of my younger days spent in the house, surrounded by family, where every occasion felt like a celebration, and every moment was filled with laughter.
His sense of humor was unparalleled. He always had a funny to say to leave us with smiling long after we had parted ways. Uncle’s presence filled our lives with warmth, and his legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
Rest in peace, dear Uncle; your light will continue to shine brightly in our lives.

Alice, Paul, Sean, Raelene, Vince and families, I am so sorry for your loss. Ray was so proud of his family and his native home of Dunville and he was unwavering in his efforts to do all he could to benefit the Town he loved and its residents. He was ill for a long time, but you would never know by talking to him. He was more interested in how you were doing and how life was treating you. He had a wonderful disposition and always a lovely grin or chuckle. To Ray’s siblings and families, I am so sorry for your loss as well. It’s hard losing a sibling that you’ve had in your lives for so long. I hope your cherished memories bring you some comfort in the days ahead and may the thought of his smile bring you a smile.
Rest in Peace Ray, your work on Earth is done.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ray’s passing. I have warm memories of him from my time growing up in Dunville. His home always had the nicest landscaping, and he took such pride in keeping it beautiful.
Ray was the epitome of what a good neighbor should be. I’ll always remember how kind he was to Mom after Dad’s passing - it meant so much to our family. The last time I saw Ray was at a gathering after my cousin’s funeral; we had a lovely chat, and I’m so glad I had that chance to talk with him.

Alice, Paul, Sean, Raelene, Vince and families. We were so saddened to hear of Ray's illness and passing. I have known Ray my whole life and he has always been good to me. From my many years babysitting, to school, parties, etc. I saw a man who loved his family the most, adored his children, spoke of his grandchildren with a twinkle in his eye, and always enjoyed a good party and a fun time. He will be forever remembered by all for his great sense of humour and for us, his kindness as a neighbour - especially to mom after dad's passing. In this time of sadness know that you will cherish the memories more and more as time passes and you will smile every time you think of him. May he Rest in Peace.

To all of Mr. Murphys family I extend my deepest sympathy. Mr. Murphy was a very pleasant man, quiet in nature and had the vocabulary that would rival the most pedagogic scholar. He loved newfoundland literature and he introduced me to Ted Russell and I was hooked. He would read aloud to us of uncle mose, grandpa walcott, jethro noddy, and king david the naughty goat all residents of a marvelous place called pigeon inlet. I loved to listen to him read. He was a great teacher and i loved his smile, it truely came from the inside out. But if you made him mad he would declare quite loudly you are all gommels .. may all his loved ones cherish the wonderful memories of Mr. Murphy I am sure there are many and may his gentle soul rest in the peace of christ. Sending you prayers and heartfelt sympathy.

Uncle Ray, we will all miss you dearly. You always had a smile when I'd see you, seemingly musing at the ready for laughs. I can still hear your voice and see your friendly eyes and that wonderful smile. As it sinks in, the one funny quote I can remember is when a fella walked up the road in St. John's wearing a fedora towards yourself, Vince, and I and you snapped a quick glance and quipped rather loudly, "Who's he, and what's he selling!?" Vince, Paul, Sean, Raylene, and Aunt Alice--you are all in our thoughts.

To know my Uncle Ray was to understand the definition of a true citizen. His career as a teacher was a testament to this, dedicated to educating and inspiring others. He lived a life of profound stewardship, always acting as a fierce advocate for his community. He was relentless in his pursuits.
Uncle Ray was an extremely hard and meticulous worker and had an impeccable eye for landscaping and gardening. Growing up across the road from Uncle Ray and Aunt Alice's beautiful property was a true privilege. Seeing a light on in their home always brought me comfort.
Above all, his hope for change was steadfast until the very end. Uncle Ray has built a beautiful legacy. May we honour him by ensuring his work is never finished, but is instead carried on in his memory. May his light never go out and may his legacy live on.
