Michelle, I am so sorry to hear of your moms passing. She taught me in grade 9 and was a very knowledgeable and fun teacher. I ran into her at Beachside a few years ago with mom and we chatted about school for a bit. She was truly an inspiration. May she R.I.P.

My deepest condolences to the family. Nanny King always showed me kindness. I will miss her calling me to tell me “you’re part of this family whether you wants to be or not.” That always made me laugh. Wishing you solace in the good memories. May she rest in peace.

Dear Michelle, Al, and members of your extended family, it was with deep sadness that I learned about Mary's death. She was an exceptional woman who melded the communities and cultures of Ship Harbour and Fox Harbour so beautifully. She was a wise and compassionate teacher who knew the value of knowledge, lifelong learning, analytical thinking, and creativity. Because of her many years in the classroom, several generations of students were better prepared to make a positive difference in our society. She was a close friend of my mother - I remember well their engaged and deep conversations! Fox Harbour is a stronger community because Mary chose to live there. Our province is a better place because Mary chose to be a teacher. Many lives are richer because Mary shared in the life journeys of so many. May you be comforted and strengthened by the legacy of Mary's life, her deep love for and pride in each one of you, and her influence on people and communities. May Mary rest now, in the company of Michael, Shawn and her other family members, in God's love and peace forever. Sister Elizabeth Davis

Michelle,Al and family,
Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your dear mom, mother-in law and grandmother. I can truly say that Mary was a very intelligent, well spoken and friendly lady. Whenever we would have a chance to meet she would always ask me about her nephew Anthony, our son-in law and his family. Then of course she would insist that we all come for a visit at her home. She will certainly be missed by all those who had the pleasure of her company. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. R.I.P Mary

My sincere condolences to Michele, Al and family.
Like most people in Fox Harbour Mrs. King was my teacher, and whenever I returned to Fox Harbour, she was always so happy to see me. She never failed to say something kind or encouraging. She and my mother, Betty Barron, published a book together about the history of Fox Harbour — a wonderful legacy of their shared love for the community. She was like that - a collaborator, a doer. I’m sad to hear of her passing. The last time I saw her, we took a selfie together — she had such a fun, joyful side. I’ll always remember her warmth, positivity, and spirit. She will be missed. Rest in peace.

Dear Michelle and Family,
My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. I have such fond memories of her — not only as a teacher and mentor, but also as a cousin. She was truly one of a kind.
I’ll always remember how she pushed and encouraged me, and so many others, in school. She saw potential in us and made sure we didn’t waste it. One of my favorite memories is how she would never let us use the word “nice” — it was far too boring for her! To this day, I still hesitate to use it. :)
She was feisty, intelligent, and always seemed to have an answer for everything. And if she didn’t, you could be sure she’d find out and get back to you. She loved to read, and I can still picture her calmly reading while we were deep in assignments or tests.
Mrs. King left an incredible legacy. Though she may be gone from this earth, she will not be forgotten. She was truly a force to be reckoned with.
May she rest in peace.
With love,
Clara
