Obituary of Matthew Spurvey

Matt Spurvey of Fox Harbour, passed away peacefully, at the Carbonear General Hospital, after a brief illness, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the age of 80 years. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Ellen Spurvey (McCue); brother, Anthony (Loretta); sisters, Mary Vinette (Pierre, deceased), Rita (Joseph Kerrivan) and Evelyn Smith (Gerald, deceased); grand niece, Krystal Paul and grand nephew, Micheal Paul. Leaving to mourn is his sister, Bride Robinson (Robert, deceased) and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and great grand nieces. Matt was born and raised in his beloved Fox Harbour, living in the same home, until the age of 75. He spent the last five years, at the Beachside Manor, Placentia. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the Staff at the Beachside Manor, for their love and support. Thank you, as well, to his many kind and supportive friends in Fox Harbour, over the years, especially Gerard Kelly, who was a great friend and support, especially during the last number of years. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. There will be no visitation. Funeral Service to take place at Coombs Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., followed by an inurnment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fox Harbour.
