Obituary of Arthur Nash

Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Father, Arthur Nash of Branch, St. Mary’s Bay. Dad passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Art was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Husband, Brother, Uncle & Friend to everyone. Leaving to mourn his passing are his daughter, Colleen Nash; son, Arthur Nash Jr.; Rosella Roche, the Mother of his children; grandchildren, Joshua Nash, Chloe (Gordon Setter/ Companion); his brother Glenn Nash (Cheryl); sisters, Virgina Nash and Rosalind Downey; Godchild, Gillian Evans along with Art’s family of nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues at from Corrections NL. Art is predeceased by his Mother and Father, Arthur and Lillian Nash; his brother, Eric Nash; his sisters, Lillian Nash and Francis English; niece, Erin Downey and Nick Deveraux, his coworker and best friend. Art started his career with Corrections Newfoundland in 1972. In 1974, he completed an in-service program and achieved the highest mark in the completion of this exam. Art served as a Correctional Officer, Lieutenant & Superintendent at the Clarenville Correctional Centre and Her Majesties Penitentiary. Art took considerable pride in his career. Durning his career, while adhering to justice decisions, he was known for his compassion while staying firm to the law at Corrections Newfoundland Facilities. Art retired from Her Majesties Penitentiary in 2002. Art enjoyed activities such as tennis, running, rowing, weightlifting & downhill skiin. He was on the Her Majesties Penitentiary rowing team from 1974-1978. The team would compete in the annual St. John’s Regatta with record time and a gold metal. Art’s pride and joy were his daughter (Colleen), son (Arthur Jr.) & grandson (Joshua). He enjoyed going on quad day trips, road trips with his son Art Jr., fishing, walking & feeding the animals in the community of Branch. Everyday Art would make sure he went to the river to feed the ducks & ensure the bird feeder was full. Art grew up in Branch, St. Mary’s Bay and retired home there 2002. He was extremely kind to the community events with contributions to the fundraising & donations. He always watched over the community and would help residents anyway that he could. We welcome all to the funeral services to celebrate the life of our Father as we send him to his final resting place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia.
