My dear cousins,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Aunt Nora’s passing. She was a truly kind-hearted, hardworking & welcoming woman whose home was always open to family & friends. I always enjoyed my visits with her. No notice was ever needed. The kettle was always on, there was fresh homemade bread, a variety of delicious homemade jams &, most importantly, a warm welcome waiting at the door.
No matter how much work she may have had to do, your mom always took the time to sit, chat, listen & ask about family. She kept up with everyone’s lives & genuinely cared about how they were doing. She possessed an incredible memory for people, places & family connections & she was a wonderful source of stories & information that helped keep our family history alive.
The things that mattered most to her were her faith & her family. Alongside your wonderful father, she raised a large family grounded in love, hard work, humility & devotion to each another. She was incredibly proud of each of you.
One of the things I admired most about your mom was her calm & gentle nature. Even during the busiest years when her home was full of children & there was endless work to be done, she never seemed rushed or overwhelmed. She carried herself with a quiet strength, contentment & grace that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
You’ve taken such loving care of your mother since your father’s passing … just as he would have wanted you to . And now her passing marks the end of an era for our family … a generation whose lives were defined by faith, family, hard work & service to others. I will miss being able to drop in for a visit & I will miss receiving her Christmas card each year, always accompanied by a thoughtful note.
May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace. It brings comfort to know that she is reunited with Uncle Johnny, Jerome & with the many members of our parents’ generation who have gone before her. I can only imagine the joy of that long awaited reunion.
My heartfelt condolences to each of you . May the many wonderful memories you shared bring you comfort & peace in the days ahead.
With sympathy and love.
Anne
